Scaling data skills for multidisciplinary impact
Data is today a new and desirable commodity that needs to be an important part of a massive digital skilling efforts (World Economic Forum, 2022).
The proliferation of data and the affordance of modern digital technologies has therefore triggered many organizations to contemplate data skills as part of their core skills needs.
Meet Our 2023 Colloquium Speakers

I am an interdisciplinary researcher with a major in statistical theory and applications. My research team and I are currently developing statistical and machine learning methods for the biomedical and health sciences.

I am a highly motivated and driven leader who is very comfortable in working in diverse, challenging and socially motivated projects. Espouses values of honesty and open working style.

I am a Professor at the University of Cape Town's Information System Department and hold a doctorate degree in Computer Science from the University of Magdeburg, Germany. My research interests include the use of ICT and mobile technology for development

I completed my Masters degree in Information & Communications Technology (MICT) at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) with Cum Laude and Dean's Merit. My research interests addresses the research gap of a framework to cost effectively and efficiently analyse Social Media big data.

I am a Professor in ICT at the Durban University of Technology. I also head the Short Course Unit and is the InSETA Research Chair: Digitalisation. I have served on the inaugural Complaints and Compliance Commission of ICASA. My doctoral studies in ICT elevated me to an international level in e-voting.

I am a Research Professor in the School of Management Sciences, University of Venda, South Africa, and a Visiting Associate Professor at the LINK Centre. I hold a PhD (Information Systems) from the University of Cape Town; and both an MBA (Management Information Systems) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Management Science) from the University of Nairobi.
NEMISA Background
NEMISA has a mandate to develop capacity in South Africa to ensure that South Africans have the necessary digital skills (including broadcasting) to participate in the 4IR.
